4-3-1 ATS PAC-10 GAME OF THE WEEK

2-2-1 ATS Last Week, 28-21 For the Year all lined PAC 10 Games

UCLA punked me last week-end by calling a defensive time-out with 18 seconds to go, giving Cal the necessary time to regroup and score a 37-yard touchdown pass at the end of regulation. Ended up as a push game. They won’t have to do that this week, as I think they beat ASU going away, but that is not my Pac 10 play of the week, only because sensational CB Matt Ware is out of the game.

This week I’m taking the green and yellow to right the ship that has already sunk, at least for one last week, before they lose out the rest of the season.

GAME OF THE WEEK (WEEK 8)

OREGON -10 VS. STANFORD

Can you say desperate? Oregon, which looked like one of the premier teams in the Pac 10 after beating Michigan a month ago, now looks like (and is) a Pac-10 bottom feeder, losing their last two conference games by a whopping 114-30 margin.

This week they get the remedy, Stanford, after having a week off to ponder how such a promising season has turned into raw sewage.

Let me take you back to last year, nearly one year ago today. Oregon started the season 6-0 and was ranked in the top 10 heading into a home game against a very young Arizona State team. Early in the 3rd Quarter after going up 28-10, it looked like Oregon was on its way to another victory and perhaps another rung up the almighty BCS ladder.

Then the shit hit the fan. ASU stormed back and won 45-42. The collapse had begun. The next week USC went up to Oregon and won 44-33, and Oregon proceeded to lose 6 of their last 7 games.

I said 6 of 7. The one win….a blow-out ass-whoopin’ of the Cardinal of Stanford in front of the home folks at Autzen. And why was Stanford the only team Oregon could beat in the middle of such a horrendous losing streak? Because they were the only team that could not pass the ball and take advantage of Oregon’s major weakness, it’s secondary.

So here we are one year later, Oregon again in the midst of a colossal tank job, and in marches one of the little bitches of the Pac 10, the type of team Oregon likes to run it up on. Stanford offers up the worst passing offense in the Pac 10, averaging less than 170 yards per game, even worse than the anemic offense of Arizona.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Buddy Teevens is a smart fella, and I’m sure he will try to attack Oregon’s secondary. But you have to have the skill people to do it, and Stanford does not.

Now Oregon hasn’t looked all that productive on the offensive side of the ball in recent weeks, averaging a mere 15 points per game in three consecutive losses. And to Stanford’s credit, they are only giving up 20 points per game.

So call this one a hunch on my part. Oregon is coming off a bye and has had two weeks to work out the kinks. Belotti will look to make a statement here, as this is the 2nd to last home game and he needs to impress the home crowd and top brass, and convince future recruits that Oregon is still a player in the Pac.

Final Score: Oregon 38 – Stanford 24

The rest of the Pac 10 slate.

I really like the games in the Pac this week and will be betting heavily.

UCLA should have covered last week and will this week. ASU has had its troubles against teams with stout defenses, and that is what UCLA has. I see this game being similar to ASU’s game at Oregon State. Closer than the final score indicates. Count this as another play of the week for me, because UCLA will win this by 10.

I told you last week that Oregon State could lose against Washington, as they were looking past them to get to Washington State. Well, they are still looking forward to the Washington State game, they just forgot they had to play last week. I see this game a touchdown difference either way, and giving Oregon State the extra point makes this a very strong play. Washington State has an excellent defense, but who have they really played? The only strong running team was Notre Dame, which isn’t really a strong running team, and WSU blew that one. Oregon State is by far the best team Washington State has played all year, and WSU struggled against New Mexico and Stanford. Steven Jackson will get his 100+ yards, Oregon State will be fired up, and I think Oregon State wins the game. Oh, and the over-under on Derrick Anderson interceptions is 3.

USC giving 10 at Washington. Washington didn’t win last week…Oregon State lost. This is the same Washington team that lost at home to Nevada, and USC is no Nevada. USC wins by 20.

Arizona is playing with some heart now that Mackovic is gone, but they are still a very bad team. Fortunately, they get to play a team that does not have a very good defense, and I think Arizona stays under the number.

Final Predictions:
UCLA -3 vs. ASU: UCLA 34 – ASU 24
WSU -8 vs. OSU: OSU 27 – WSU 24
USC -10 at Washington: USC 41 – Washington 17
Cal -17 vs. Arizona: Cal 41 – Arizona 27

I’m feeling a 5-0 or 4-1 week this week in the Pac 10.

Good luck all, knock ‘em dead.

WC,
good luck as always, but it looks as though your game of the week should be USC as they are laying 10 and u have them winning 41-17 or Oregon State as they are getting 8 and you have them winning!Oregon is laying 10 and u have them only winning by 14.Just something I noticed.I like Az tomorrow +17.5 as well as Oregon State +8.Looking at the others right now....

good luck!

Mark Prior....future hall of famer...thanks.

Prophet...I only put that score up for the USC game because that seems to be the score of every one of their games.

Oregon could win by the same margin.

I like all of the Pac 10 games this week. Quite frankly, the game I'm starting to like most is Oregon State...I think they will win.

Good luck my man.
